The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a significant political breakthrough in the West Bengal assembly elections. Behind this performance, several central leaders played crucial strategic roles in shaping the party’s campaign and execution.
Among them, India’s Home Minister Amit Shah is widely regarded as the chief architect of the campaign. Known for his sharp political planning, he reportedly spent nearly two weeks in the state, closely supervising party activities, holding late-night meetings, and guiding local leaders. His campaign included multiple rallies and promises such as implementing the Seventh Pay Commission for government employees and taking strict action against criminal activities and illegal infiltration.
Alongside him, five other leaders played vital roles in turning strategy into ground-level success.
Dharmendra Pradhan
He acted as the chief strategist of the campaign. His role involved coordinating between central leadership and the state unit, managing resources, and building connections across different social groups.
Bhupender Yadav
Known for his organizational expertise, he focused on strengthening the party structure down to booth-level workers and handled legal complexities related to the election process.
Sunil Bansal
He was responsible for building a strong grassroots network. His strategy emphasized creating disciplined booth-level teams to counter the opponent’s established cadre system.
Biplab Kumar Deb
Using his experience in Tripura politics, he led aggressive campaigning, especially in regions with cultural similarities, motivating local workers and strengthening outreach.
Amit Malviya
He managed the party’s digital campaign. By highlighting key incidents and shaping narratives on social media, he played a crucial role in influencing public opinion and countering rival messaging.
